State of Researches on the History of the Bulgarian Ethnography Science

Summary/Abstract: One of the main reasons for the genesis and evolution of ethnography was the renaissance Bulgarians. need for self-knowledge, which in the beginning was called science for the people (ethnology) and it really started with the desire to provide knowledge for the preserved spiritual heritage and for all the features of the current life and history. That is why, many studies devoted to the emergence of our early ethnology, were associated with the name and deeds of Otec Paisii. The European scientific context was presented too, because with the emergence of the Slavic studies, the Bulgarian people were rediscovered and studied because of their historical past, preserved medieval heritage and present state (position). Admittedly, the external foreign interest coincides with the moment of awakening of the awareness of the Bulgarian ethnic community, which is an internal ethnic process. The combination of these two factors created favorable conditions for contributions of individuals, who devoted themselves to studies on the Bulgarians.
