Summary/Abstract: Necrophilia cases are occasionally reported in the literature, even though they are interdisciplinary issues. This raises the need to consider necrophilia in the broad context of research - from psychiatry, psychology, sexology, at law or forensic science ending. In most publications relating to necrophilia it is emphasized that it is a sexual deviation occurring extremely rarely, by which statistical estimate of necrophiles sexual contacts with a corpse is virtually impossible. The article describes necrophilia and presents its classifications found in the literature. As necrophilia is associated with practice of obtaining corpses, including - necrophile killings, special attention was paid to the forensic science aspects of analyzed problems. Two cases are described in more detail - Edmund Kolanowski (Poland) and Ed Gein (USA).
