Summary/Abstract: The scientific researches indicate, that we think and percieve the world through the prism of metaphor. It allows to familiarize properties, events, phenomenon cognitively, understand the reality. It is woven into every day life, language we use and lasts for years. It is adapted to the current era. The present day has been dominated by new media, which determine the directions of changes in every area of life, thereby creating new challenges, needs. These, in turn, generate the need for reflective look at the process of education and upbringing, highlight the questions about what tasks are facing the current elementary education to support the harmonious and fair development of the younger students. I hold the view that the first of all, we should develop the innate skills of the children, their natural imagination, their ability to connect even the most distant associations and metaphorical thinking, which is the basis for creative thinking and understanding the world.
