Theoretical Approaches on The Time Concept and Present Time Phenomenon on The Internet

Summary/Abstract: The time always has indisputable importance in individual’s life in the historical process. Developments in communication and information technologies in the twenty first century have increased the usage of Internet everday life, and the perception of the time has also been transformed in this process. In this study, theoretical approaches on the time concept are initially discussed based on the perception of present time in mass communication by taking into account alterations of perceptions on the time. Then, interrelationship between the İnternet and present time is discussed. At the end, following this evaluation, this paper argues that Internet combines the present time of different locations and/or individuals in its present time enables different interpretations for the present time via different messages and characteristics.
