Summary/Abstract: Objective. The research consists of highlighting genesis and evolution of the methods of creating a three-dimensional space on a two-dimensional plane and impact of stereoeffects on design of the printed graphics of small forms in the period of 1970-1990's on the territories of the USSR. The contribution of soviet scientists, artists and stereophotographers into development and implementation of stereoimage in design of printed products in the Soviet Union have not been investigated yet. The research methodology consists in the application of analysis, synthesis, factual and historical research methods for studying the processes of creation and evolution of the stereoimage as element of the design of printed products. The mentioned methodological approach allowed to obtain systematic information on the phased development of stereoimage in design and reveal the names of a number of artists and stereophotographers, who stood at the origins of stereoart in the period of 1970-1990's in the Soviet Union. Scientific novelty of the work is in expanding of understanding of the genesis and evolution of the stereo image and its impact on the design of small form printed graphics. The research introduces into scientific circulation some names of artists and stereophotographers of 1970-1990's. Conclusions. The article represents possibilities of using stereoscopy in design of small form printed graphics, which can contribute to the diversity and uniqueness of design projects.
