Summary/Abstract: The article starts from the idea that people are born with a deep desirefor spirituality, a “transcendent motivation” that had driven the man ofall times. However, this desire may not reveal itself in external religiouspractices, especially nowadays, when faith in God and religiosity haslost from their social and cultural influence. But, in spite of the materialisticproclamations, the search for a transcendent power couldn’t beextinguished. According to the facts, traditional Churches in the last fewdecades have been facing a great challenge when trying to meet people’sinnate desire for spirituality. Parallelly, there are many opportunitiesarising outside the traditional churches that offer men the chancefor spiritual experiences. The greatest challenge seems to be the NewAge movement, a worldview that extends to many domains of life andsociety, and offers men a spirituality that can be gained by techniquesand personal efforts. From Christian point of view, the answer for thischallenge may be the radical return to the Jesus Christ and well interpretedmysticism. The article draws the attention to the numerousinstruments and opportunities that can be found inside the CatholicChurch that could offer men the experience of God.
