Some Matters Concerning the Figures of Speech and their Relevance in the Textual Semiotic Decoding: the Metaphor in the Modern Versions of the Book of Psalms

Summary/Abstract: The first part of our study, dedicated to semantic figures (in this case the metaphor) and their relevance in the semiotic interpretation of a text, brings in a number of issues and concepts, such as: basic values and the fundamental structures of representativeness, the significant force of words, the stylistic alternative approach to the divine, the cultural paradigms (culturally conditioned aesthetics), the semantic figures of both reduction and conjunction, the revealing knowledge (including the revealing anthropomorphic figures), the semantic imprecision of sacred text etc. The examples which support the idea have been provided by modern biblical version online, specifically La Bible en français courant. The analysis will be detailed in further research taking into account other Biblical versions, different texts in French and more.
