Summary/Abstract: This article aims at presenting the main activities performed in the Romanian lectureship recently opened at Karaganda State University underlining the academically, anthropological, economical and historical reasons of its functioning. As well as some other centers of Romanian studies, the lectureship in Kazakhstan has an ethnic basis motivated by a long history of deportation and emigration into Kazakhstan. Learning Romanian language and getting familiar to Romanian culture and civilization represent ways to keep the contact with national ethnicity in a far away and isolated hosting culture.
