On the Medieval Court Records as a Source of Knowledge of Polish Law – Critically

Summary/Abstract: The author indicates the deficiencies found in published books of medieval Polish courts of law. First of all, these books typically include short sections of the late Middle Ages. On this basis it is impossible to determine the line of development of the Polish law. Within the cut-off dates of individual books there are many loopholes. Only some parts of the lawsuits are listed in the books, usually, neither the beginning nor the end are found. One should keep that in mind constantly.
