Summary/Abstract: Contemporary archival science must include all the new technological developments available to work on the improvement, processing and publishing materials to make use easier and to ensure the heritage has become easily accessible to the general public and scientific researchers. First of all, this involves the use of computers in their daily work. One of the software proves to be a good tool for the daily work of archivists in Historical Archives of Kotor is certainly a program to convert scanned documents into easily searchable Word documents. Even though we are limited with widespread problem of a financial nature, computers that are in the Archives have software Abby Fine Reader, which proved to be very good for that job. Rarely valuable Statute of the City Kotara, printed in 1616 in Venice, was one of the whole documents that was scanned, and passed through the recognition software. Currently we are looking for a program that would be able to read medieval manuscripts, which will greatly assist archivists in preparation of regesta (summaries) and development of analytical index, which still perhaps more importantly, is one of the ways to reduce or abolish the need for physical contact with the material that is at risk of deterioration.
