Graffiti and Dipinti on Amphorae from Tyras

Summary/Abstract: The text of the paper presents inscriptions (graffiti and dipinti) on amphorae kept at the Belgorod-Dnestrovsk Museum and at the Archaeological Museum in Odessa. They are published in the form of a short catalogue with comments, which comprises information on the inventory number, dating, technical characteristics of the clay and the available data on the finding of every fragment. This is followed by a deciphered text in Greek or digital (with incised signs) characters designating volume and/or price, as well as a proposed translation and commentary. The graffiti and dipinti included cover a wide chronological range from the Classical, Hellenistic and Roman periods.
