Summary/Abstract: This thesis describes the functioning and the implementation of activities which have been entrusted to the Citizens' Militia, latter police, while performing their duties. In this work there is also presented the division of organizational structure and discussed the range of tasks and duties of superiors who exercise authority on designated positions. The thesis contains information about individual units who in the period of Polish People’s Republic constituted the public security service which has been extended to the new departments and units of the police after the amendments to the bill about police. The thesis also enables to learn about the directives regarding the work of the police and its services to the public.
