Summary/Abstract: The paper deals with social meanings of phonetic variants: their identification, evaluation and their links to social stereotypes. The research is based on some social stereotypes identifiable in the public space related to the pronunciation of some sounds by Vilnius girls and their evaluation by Vilnius secondary school students.
