Summary/Abstract: It is a dominant use of the concept of ‘Islam’ that misrepresents its genuine traditional meaning of putting all what is existing into relation to the God as Peace. Users of the concept include in this modern construction contents which are either a negative representation of themselves or a negative reaction to this negative representation. Muslim contents of the Bosnian culture are interwoven into this reified and homogenized picture of Islam. The political discourse guided by such a picture lacking in semantic determinability reveals itself to be a movement in darkness of fear. In his article ‘Islam’ as the opposite of Bosnia the author examines the reified use of the concept of ‘Islam’ within an anti-Bosnian political discourse.
