Summary/Abstract: As one of the most prominent fashion designers in Yugoslavia, Aleksandar Joksimović, was described by national media in many ways – as „ambassador of national fashion”, „designer with no competition”, „King of scissors” and „Yugoslav Dior”. It is interesting how the socialist media had used the name of Christian Dior, who was the most famous French designer of the period, especially known by his work for French elite, to describe work of a socialist designer. That correlation between Aleksandar Joksimović and Christian Dior was the main idea and starting point for this research which is aimed to present the bases for bringing these two designers together and answer the questions about possible similarities of their work and the way of thinking.
