Summary/Abstract: The authors present foundations of a new edition of Życie książki written in 1951 by Jan Muszkowski. The development of the main text of this publication required conducting extensive research and using many archival materials which helped prepare the critical edition with a scientific preface, a critical apparatus and comments. On this basis the authors characterize goals and motives for reediting scientific publications from the 2nd half of the 20th century, together with methods of tagging the outdated or obsolete fragments.
