The Issue of Education in the Development of Educational Thinking

Summary/Abstract: Education, as being a multi-faceted phenomenon, is described here in both synchronic and diachronic perspectives as well as its inner contradiction. Historical and anthropological attributes of education are reflected. The development of education was violated in the second half of the 20th century causing the largest crisis of education in its history which persists until today. The paper claims that post-modern and trans-modern thinking does not endanger the substance of education; it rather brings new challenges which require rethinking. For this purpose, historical and philosophical-anthropological reflection is needed, which should have its place also in the training of pre-service teachers.
