Summary/Abstract: On the occasion of the fiftieth anniversary of death of Dragiša Brašovan and Milan Zloković (1965 – 2015), two architects whose work marked the first half of the twentieth century, is the right moment to ask ourselves about the significance of their work then and what would be able to represent to us today. They succeeded in a short period of time to transform the appearance of urban environment in the former Yugoslavia and much more – to transform the term "architecture" in the community where they created each on his own way. Dragiša Brašovan was one of those architects who succeeded to adjust his deeds and work to the new socio-political and cultural situation that directly or indirectly required new architectural forms without losing much of its inventiveness and recognition thanks to which he will be, at the peak of his work, able to build some of the most recognizable buildings in Belgrade, using the language of modernism. Milan Zloković on the other hand, almost from the beginning to the end of his career remained faithful to this same modernism whom, being one of the founders of Group of Architects of Modern Movement (GAMM) 1928., sets theoretical and practical foundations in former Kingdom of SHS, and managing to stay in time and qualitatively not fall behind for what was at that time in the field of architecture happening in the world.
