Summary/Abstract: The aim of the paper is to depict the course of efforts of the Observants of Czech province (later the Reformers) to recover the church and of St. Bernardine’s Monastery in Wrocław. The axis of the considerations constitutes a document of compromise - an agreement between the magistrate of Wrocław and the Czech province of the Reformers, issued in the year 1678 (Instrumentum Transactionis), which regulated the rules of accepting a new assemblage in the town, defined mutual obligations and rights, thereby becoming an image of the relation between the monastery and the city in the 17th century. The process of restitution to the assumed by the magistrate of Wrocław, soon after leaving the objects of the town by the brothers in 1522 that lasted intermittently until 1678, is a part of the post-Tridentine process of rebuilding the Czech Franciscan province structures after its disappearance during the Reformation. Moreover, it may also be considered in a context of confessionalization politics, implemented by the Habsburg Monarchy
