Summary/Abstract: The dialogue between H. Samsonowicz and W. Kalicki is outlining events from the history of Poland and its relations with neighbouring countries, which have defined, along the centuries, the culture, the policy and the collective and national memory. History is memory, without which no human community can exist, says Samsonowicz. At the same time, it represents a powerful tool in the hand of politicians and the intelligentsia, through which the masses can be manipulated. And the manipulations of this kind are very dangerous, because „if they coincide with the expectations, the dreams of the complexes of a collectivity, they are accepted despite any elementary logic.”
