Summary/Abstract: Aim of the article is to consider ethical dilemmas and methodological problems, which a qualitative researcher becomes entangled in, taking up exploration of chosen spheres of social life. On one hand, these will be cases bases on research conducted in the environment of intellectually handicapped persons, and on the other I will refer to studies performed among the physically disabled. In the article I will try to provide liminal and ambiguous examples, which may become a trigger for further discussion. First of all they will be such situations, in which it is hard for a researcher to apply moral standards, without being afraid of violating them. Hence, the researcher is faced with a necessity to make difficult decisions and ambiguous choices, relating to that to what extent he can perform the research and realize the set goals, maintaining at the same time basic ethical standards.
