On Diffusion of the Local Dialect Lexemes to the Internet Language

Summary/Abstract: The article discusses the occurrence of local dialect lexemes in the language of the Internet. While the use of local dialects is decreasing, the local dialect lexis has not disappeared completely. Analysing the Internet users’ posts, one may notice that certain dialectal words are still in use. The analyzed material encompasses one hundred words excerpted from weblogs and comments published on online message boards.The author takes into account two aspects of the phenomenon of diffusion of the localdialect lexemes to the Internet language, namely: the semantic and the orthographic aspect.
