Summary/Abstract: The article is the reflection on bioethical topics in the recent papal encyclical. First part of the article is the analysis of the most spred philosophical models in contemporary Bioethics such as: scientism, utilitarianism, absolute autonomy and personalism. In this part we can find the pope’s judging of all these philosophical currents and his conclusion: the only appropriate model to resolve ecological and bioethical issues is personalism. The second part of the article analyzes the ecological models: anthropocentrism and biocentrism. It presents also Francis’ reflection in this subject: the man should treat the nature as an equal. The man should be responsible to God for his approach to the nature. The man should not be a master of nature but a wise servant. In the third part of the article the author describes the bioethical cases in the last papal encyclical. They concern the beginnings of human life (status of the human embryo, foetus), child abuse, the dignity of the ill and old age persons, and ecological bioethics (animals suffering, GMO).
