The „ashpit” settlements in the basin of Răut (Catalog)

Summary/Abstract: There are more than 400 “ashpit” settlements at present in the Prut-Dniester space attributed to Noua culture. The concentration of the settlements is very high in certain areas. One of these areas is the basin of river Răut where more than 90 settlements have been mapped.Usually, around 15-20 “ashpits” are found at one settlement. However, the number of “ashpits” was originally much higher, according to air photography, as more than 40 are found at certain settlements.
