Summary/Abstract: The object of the article is Franciszek Morawski’s commentary on his List do klasyków(Letter to the Classicists), a part of Klasycy i romantycy polscy (Polish Classicists and Romantics1829). The poet makes use of thought of Johannes von Müller and Émile Deschamps inorder to motivate the settlement between the Classicists and the Romantics. Only thesettlement, which is in fact a sign of aesthetic-literary eclecticism, can enliven Classicismof that time. The rule of imitation, quite mechanically understood, and fear of anyinnovation in poetry are the reason of its decay.
