INFLUENCE OF ECOLOGICAL MUNICIPAL TRANSPORT SYSTEM ON LIFE QUALITY IN POLISH CITIES ON EXAMPLE OF CIVITAS INITIATIVE

Summary/Abstract: This paper aims at achievement of positive influence of effective and ecological municipal transport system on life quality in Polish cities. Solving the serious problem of constantly growing and having negative effects congestion, and connected with it lower safety level and inhabitants comfort level, is connected with necessity of common counter measures against usage of individual vehicles by introduction of traffic limits in cities and simultaneously promoting, developing and increasing attractiveness of public transport, bicycle and pedestrian communication. The European project CIVITAS, realized in four chosen cities, is the example of this initiative in Poland.
