Summary/Abstract: This presentation is devoted to the analysis of Karl Jaspers political options and of their determination by his philosophical prospective of the human being. The life of Jaspers suffered a major disturbance when he was banished from the Heidelberg Philosophy Chair during the dark period of the nazi totalitarian regime. From this staggering, tragic experience, originated a fundamental work of the philosopher: The problem of guilt. On the political responsibility of the German People. In this work the author analyze the judicial, political, moral and metaphysical aspects of guilt, trying to induce redemption in the German spirit, both in individual and collective, for the rebirth of democracy through liberty. After the II-nd World War, Jaspers became one of the outstanding political analysts of German contemporary history; he anticipated the reunification of Germany, as a phenomenon made possible only through an increasing awareness of the necessity of freedom. The political reasoning of Karl Jaspers can be understood only through the main postulates of his practical philosophy such as: existential communication, borderline situation, authentic existence, transcendence.
