Summary/Abstract: Budapest changed a lot in the last ten years. It has definitely lost its Sleeping Beauty character. The most blatant difference is that a general atmosphere of neglect and disrepair has ceased to be the most characteristic feature of the city. Real, fresh colors are probably the most obvious change for the foreign fan of Budapest. The typical nondescript Eastern car makes (10-15 years behind European trends) have been replaced by common European brands of all shapes and hues. Billboards have arrived and now pollute the cityscape by the thousand. New things are so numerous and so conspicuous that losses are difficult to notice. Only the serious friends of Budapest miss them. Vanishing Budapest is a serious asset for the discriminating traveler like you, Gentle Reader.
