Summary/Abstract: The establishment of institutions of higher education in the field of medicine end health care is not only of academic inportance but is directly related to the quality of health care, which is an essential prerequisite to stay and a prerequisite of survival and existence of a nation in the areas where it has lived for centuries. In order to ensure progres and development of society as a whole, health care should be available to all individuals. This was the reason to establish Medical Faculty in Mostar (1977), Faculty of Health Studies (2000) and Faculty of Pharmacy (2011), which enabled the establishment of the Clinical hospital that was renamed into the University Clinical Hospital in 2013 and that serves as a teaching base for the faculty. All this is a guarantee that we have: high quality health care at all levels, from primary to tertiary, education provided to health workers from high shool to the doctorate and enabled reproduction of teachers.
