Summary/Abstract: In the present study we will highlight the fact that both the musical and the dramatic construct will keep their unique and distinctive hallmarks and when the two arts are combined, a new form of artistic expression is created. This “joint” between the two art forms is realised on a narrow bridge, on the line of the emotional movement and draws its strenght from it’s vitality. Harmony can only be found where the composer transposes himself into the poet's soul. Through the incentive of music, words can better reveal the subtext. In the concept of musical theatre we may find a double stance: first there is the concept of literary-musical support and then, as a finished product, it is molded into the concrete form of the representation. The actor-singer becomes, through his art, a developer of detailed psychological action. He starts from decoding the score through his art, but also through his creative fantasy, completing what the author could not materialize in the written text. Thus a new concept is born, that of an actor-singer, when his role in art surpasses the strictly executive stage and it is headed to the area of high sensitivity, that of a true creator. Besides the complexity of the phenomenon of artistic expression, namely the musical theatre show, the director, directly involved and creative, has a decisive role of binding the two ways of artistic expression: music and theatre.
