Summary/Abstract: The term ‘ghosting’ offers complex information about the critical reaction referring to verbatim theatre as the performer reproduces en detail the words of the absent protagonists, the speech and the voice being registered in form of interviews. Verbatim theatre places the protagonist in a unique relation with the text of the performance due to the fact that the integration and the insistence on technology are considered ‘authentic’ presence. The present study examines on basis of Alecky Blythe’s production Where Have I Been All My Life? to which extent this kind of practice ‘justifies’ the life of the actor and the interpretative function.
