Summary/Abstract: This article presents survey results about salary, non-salary expectations and self-assessment of possessed own competencies among students and graduates of Wroclaw University of Technology. Results showed that attendants of survey expect more in year to year respectively and their general non-salary expectations are similar to modern trends on the local labour market. Students and graduates from universities often want to become professionally active, but they have high salary and non-salary expectations. With survey were examined, the expected and minimally accepted net wages among students and fresh alumni of Wroclaw University of Technology. Respondents recognized 2875,97 Polish zloty net as a satisfactory wage. The minimal wage, they can accept for their first work is 2326,23 Polish zloty net. The salary expectations can be characterized as typical for this group. Candidates who are looking for their first job, pay close attention to courses and trainings which may help in their career development. Young people have problems with their qualifications assessment. The results proved that competency gap exists in this researched group and this gap is caused by candidate’s expectations towards first employer and own competencies assessment. Therefore, these expectations are reason of their mismatch.
