Summary/Abstract: Based on the original text of Nikolai Gogol’s poem and its two English translations, the article examines the means of expression of specialized meanings of the invariant modal meaningof reliability - categorical and problematic reliability; establishes the degree of the inter-language semantic equivalence of these means, promoting the adequate perception of the author’s intentions in the English translations of the poem.
