Summary/Abstract: The paper describes the current legal regulations and guidelines regarding the usage of biometric technologies in Hong Kong. The Author discusses the regulations for data protection and privacy. In particular, the crucial legal act “The Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (Cap. 486) is presented. The „Guidance on Collection and use of Biometric” issued by the Privacy Commissioner for Personal Data of Hong Kong is also discussed. Moreover, the results of the investigation about the Collection of Fingerprint Data by Queenix (Asia) Limited is discussed.
