Summary/Abstract: The problem of occupational activation of people with disabilities can and should be considered from two perspectives. The global perspective refers to the fact, that it is important to transfer, in practice, the national social policy on system solutions, with particular regard to their effectiveness and efficiency. As far as the individual perspective is concerned, it is significant to select instruments and possibilities of their application in the context of diversified needs deriving from disability. Needs, barriers and opportunities for vocational rehabilitation of people with disabilities are very individualized. Reasons for this are a number of different factors such as: the type of disability, its degree, age, as well as ambient conditions. This study presents the analysis of prevalence of disability in Poland, taking into account the type and degree of disability in different age groups. There are also indicated different types of instruments that are likely to be used in the process of occupational activation. The analysis was also carried out from the point of view of possibilities of their use in the context of age of persons with disabilities.
