Summary/Abstract: A few years ago the labor market of lawyers was strictly limited. Access to the judicial professions, especially to the lawyer, a notary or judge, was reserved mainly for people related to each other or for people having connections. The successive governments' policy of liberalization of market access to the judicial professions turned out to be socially right. This has led to far-reaching transformations in the field of massiveness of legal studies, the number of applicants, and finally multiply- ing the number of attorneys and legal advisers. The notaries growth occurs at a slower pace. There is still narrow access to the profession of judge or prosecutor. The consequence of the liberalization of access to the legal profession is a growing number of legal advisers and advocates. The new phenomena such as unemployment among legal advisers begins to appear. The aim of the study is to show the changes taking place in the market of the legal profession and to outline possible future scenarios of solution for emerging problems with an excessive number of lawyers in Poland.
