Summary/Abstract: The aesthetic of the forthcoming of death is not thoroughly acknowledged while studying the majority of universally renowned literature. How - ever, the Nobel Prize winner, Thomas Mann meticulously engages with this topic in his prominent novel, Death in Venice. Whether in love or death, we are confronted with ourselves and Mann’s novel describes the final encounter of an elderly man Aschenbach, who is vanishing in a city, which is also predestined to fade away. My following work revolves around a literature analysis, portraying motifs of death, decline and destruction.
