Summary/Abstract: The problem treated in this article is about the formation and functioning of the opposition East-West in Ukraine, which is also perceived as a confrontation between orthodox Russia and catholic Europe. The question about the nation place of the nation in the world civilization process and if it is really an European country has interested the Ukrainian scholars and political scientists for two centuries (XIX and XX). In order to achieve balance of the interests in the triangle Ukraine-West-Russia, it is necessary to rank the priorities in Ukraine foreign-political orientation. Taking that into consideration, the problem is of present interest in Ukraine more than ever before.
