Summary/Abstract: This paper deals with some fundamental aspects of the work of the Hungarian philosopher László Tengelyi. We will study how lived sense and expressed sense relate to each other in the light of three fundamental experiences: the sublime, the trauma, and the curse, or what Tengelyi names the diabolic or demoniac. Appealing to some basic concepts in Tengelyi’s work as those of the unprethinkable and the unavailable, transpassibility and transpossibility, Sinnbildung and Sinnstiftung, we shall illustrate how the very element of narrativity plays a key role in the transition between the lived sense and its expression.
