Summary/Abstract: The article offers a description of a concept, as outlined by C. Miłosz, of translation of thoughts on the Last Things into a language of spatial imagination. The Polish poet has found the most intriguing example of such translation in the writings of Emanuel Swedenborg. In the Swedish scholar and mystic’s concept, eschatological space is interiorised. Humans situate themselves within a (spiritual) space of Heaven or Hell that corresponds with their will. In Mr. Bukowski’s view, tracking Swedenborg, Miłosz penetrated in his poetry the limits and potential of (a) translation of the ‘evading’ eschatological contents. Thus, he also investigated the potential of a language capable of creating spatial images, visualising Heaven, Hell and Purgatory.
