Summary/Abstract: The article is devoted to the brand names of Polish and Russian vodkas and also to those produced in the former Soviet republics. The purpose is to show which names dating from the socialist times are still in use and why, as well as to describe the phenomena of socialist reality which, in the spirit of nostalgia for the PRL and the USSR, were the inspiration for the brand names of vodka produced today.
