Some Remarks on Secularization in the 21st Century

Summary/Abstract: Agnieszka Kołakowska examines the issue of secularization. Rather than defining the notion as a lack of religion and religiousness, Kołakowska claims that the main characteristic of secularization is the rejection of Christian roots and a natural law of the reality. The denial of the order is so deep that it affects the biological order and results in such activities as in vitro fertilisation, homosexual relations, negation of natural differences between a woman and a man, equating animal and human rights. Thus new secularization is viewed as a rejection of a natural order as well as the Judeo-Christian heritage and its values.
