Summary/Abstract: The authoress discusses semantic processes in the modern Russian language as a feature of thedemocratization of the language. Those processes - the subject of the authoress’ researches - arecaused mainly by changes in the social and political system and also by changes in the ideologicalorientation of the country. The authoress ascertains the disappearance of the difference between theliterary norm and the various spheres of linguistic communication, especially of current speech.
