Summary/Abstract: The content of this paper is developing a field research from the 70s of XX century. „Olt Country” localities are known by the traditional, historical, geographical and administrative names. The tradition was preserved using nicknames showing the inhabitants mentality, psychology, customs and occupations. Under certain conditions, besides the official name of the village, these nicknames evolved into the traditional village name.
