Summary/Abstract: The objective of the paper is to evaluate selected mobile applications from the perspective of designed interface and functionality. The evaluation was conducted in two stages. The first part of the research concerned the frequency and the manner of use of mobile applications by smartphone users. The next stage of the study concerned the assessment of the applications “Toruń” and “Poznam Poznań” [discoveri Poznan], which are information systems about objects in urban space. The evaluation was conducted based on the following criteria: content, navigation and structure, interaction, layout and graphics, the ability to enter data, usefulness. Comparison of the assessed applications leads to a conclusion that “Torun” turns out to be a better application for the users, gaining grade point average of 3.8, while the application “Poznam Poznań” received a 3.1 grade point average.
