Summary/Abstract: This article presents three dramas by Lucjan Rydel (1870-1910), Jerzy Szaniawski (1886-1970) and Zbigniew Herbert (1924-1998). The text concerns the problem of words’ meaning and phenomen of performances in the Polish education. The word is often the main subject of the reflection in the dramaturgy by Rydel, Szaniawski and Herbert.
