Summary/Abstract: This essay emphasizes His Holiness Bartolomeu Anania`s possition as a dissenter using the subtle weapons of literary culture and apprehensiveness. The starting point for this article is a request addressed to Bartolomeu Anania, in 1972, by Mihai Dulea, vice-president of the Council of Socialist Culture and Education, to collaborate with the institutions of the totalitarian regime to the work of propaganda, in the journal "Tribuna României", among the Romanian emigrants to the United States. His ingenious, yet categorical refusal was an act of great courage, which only few intellectuals had at the time. In the context of "Tezele din iulie" (The Theses of July), regarding the political and ideological activity, the new publication continued the program of the Romanian Committee for Repatriation and of the journal "Glasul patriei" (1955), both intended to political exile.
