Summary/Abstract: Bringing together theory and practice is a challenge faced by university curricula since time immemorial. Given highly specialised job profiles, such as sworn translator, conference interpreter or audiovisual translator, ensuring high-quality translation practice in authentic contexts is a must for effective training of language specialists. The aim of the article will be to reflect upon the organisation of practical training reconciling academia and the job market at the Applied Linguistics study programme of Maria Curie-Skłodowska University in Lublin.
