Summary/Abstract: The gradual advance of the European integration process has generated vivid discussions on what defines the Europeanness and what its main features are. They were meant to bring useful insights to the wider ongoing debates with regard to who is entitled to embark in this process or what defines in a European context a certain type of political action. They attempted to move beyond the sheer political and economic considerations and to go to the core of the whole effort of building a European Union based on the intertwined processes of integration and enlargement. As such, they were closely entangled with those concerning the core values that define a European identity
