Summary/Abstract: The article intends a revival of the memory of a literary personality from the Inter-war period, almost forgotten today, the poet, novelist and memorialist, I. Valerian. The author of two volumes of poetry („Caravanele tăcerii” – „The Caravanes of Silence”, „Stampe” – „Stamps”) and of a novel („Cara-Su”), I. Valerian remained in the history of Romanian literature especially through his activity at „Viaţa literară” („The Literary Life”), a journal that, for 15 years (between 1926 and 1941), with several gaps, he financially supported from his own salary. „Viaţa literară” represented a launching platform for the young literary talents and it equally benefited from the collaboration with some noteworthy authors of those days, such as G. Călinescu, Mihail Sadoveanu, V. Voiculescu, Tudor Arghezi, Ionel Teodoreanu, Şerban Cioculescu, Vladimir Streinu, Pompiliu Constantinescu etc.
